Post Ref: WYJS: 025-19West Yorkshire Archive Service is looking for a qualified archivist to assist with the care, preservation and access to collections as well as the provision of public services at the West Yorkshire History Centre (WYHC) in Wakefield.Opening in 2017, the award-winning purpose-built WYHC is the largest of West Yorkshire Archive Service's five branches. Offering state-of-the-art visitor, learning and conservation facilities, we are looking for a dynamic individual, interested in running this busy archive building and managing a small team of archive assistants.

Situated in a central location in Wakefield, close to Kirkgate railway station, and within walking distance of the award-winning national modern art gallery, the Hepworth, WYHC is at the centre of the city's developing cultural offer. The role represents a rare opportunity to be part of and shape that offer.
The postholder will undertake the full range of professional archive duties and will have experience of working in an archive environment along with good communication and IT skills. Familiarity with the CALM cataloguing system would be an advantage. They will be educated to degree level and hold the Diploma in Archive Administration. A current driving licence and the ability to travel around WYAS service points and other locations in West Yorkshire will be essential. The normal pattern of work will be Monday - Friday, however, some weekend and evening work may be required.
