This is an exciting time to join the fostering service this new advanced practitioner role has been created to support the service in prioritising children securing legal permanence through special guardianship. The post holder will be responsible for tracking and monitoring special guardianship applications. They will use their social work experience and knowledge to support families through the assessment process, ensuring the support in place will promote long term stability. The post holder will work closely with allocated social workers, and the special guardianship support practitioners to ensure the quality of support plans and assessments are in line with Calderdale procedures.
The Advanced Practitioner will need to be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to take responsibility for the development of specific areas of professional social work practice across the borough including mentoring and supporting newly qualified or less experienced social workers in the team. The post holder will have an understanding of the impact of early trauma and issues affecting children and young people who are unable to live with their birth parents.
This post holder will also be responsible for supervising social work student placements.
Applications will be considered from qualified social workers (BA/DipSW/CQSW or equivalent), registered with Social Work England and who can demonstrate post qualifying experience gained within statutory children and families service.
