Set in the beautiful surroundings of the South Pennines in West Yorkshire, Calderdale is a vibrant metropolitan borough, an active part of West Yorkshire’s Mayoral Combined Authority, with strong market towns and amazing heritage assets and a thriving voluntary and community sector. Our Vision for 2024 is simple, we aspire to be place that is enterprising, talented, distinctive, resilient and kind, where everyone can live a larger life and reach their potential.
Calderdale Council are looking to recruit a dynamic and talented Senior Public Health Practitioner. The postholder will work across the three domains of public health (health protection, health improvement and health care public health) leading the design, planning, commissioning, implementation and evaluation of multi-agency programmes to achieve priority health and wellbeing outcomes and reduce health inequalities in Calderdale.
We are looking for someone who is excited about the opportunity to lead projects and project teams working to deliver priorities in Calderdale’s annual public health business plan, contributing to corporate and Health and Wellbeing Strategy priorities. The postholder will work on behalf of the Council to enable it to enable it to fulfil its statutory public health duties and protect and improve the health and wellbeing of the residents of Calderdale.
Calderdale’s Public Health Team, nominated in 2021 for the MJ Award Public Health Team of the Year, sits at the heart of the Council in the Chief Executive’s Directorate. It has recently restructured to a People and Places focus, informed by the team’s own vision for recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a team that provides system leadership for health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities in Calderdale. Members of the team share a passion for community centred public health, addressing the core determinants of health inequalities and joining up health, care and wellbeing services to improve lives.
