Post Ref: ACS66 This is an exciting time to join Calderdale Council's Adult Care Social Work community Team.
You will be part of the management team, driving up the quality of services delivered to Calderdale residents. Your leadership and management skills will enable our vulnerable residents, their carers and families to maximise their choices, control and independence. As part of a growing team, you will help provide vulnerable adults in our community - which includes older people and those with physical disability. This frontline Social Work management post is to provide effective leadership to a Community Team, Older People and Physical disabilities (OPPD), based in a Community setting in Halifax. This is an Adults service of 65yrs upwards . The Teams include a Qualified Team Leaders, Level 3 Qualified Social Workers, Level 2 Qualified Social Workers, Service Co-ordinators, Practice Supervisors, Newly Qualified staff progressing through ASYE and students and/or trainees.
The Adult Locality Social Work Teams work to uphold human rights and offer person-centred social work support. Their role is to help empower people, promote independence and ensure rights for all those individuals they work with, working in partnership with them and their families and representatives. The Social Work teams aim to promote independence and resilience whilst safeguarding vulnerable individuals. They also work to enable people with complex needs to be safely discharged from hospital. The post holder will therefore require an in-depth knowledge and work experience of The Care Act, Safeguarding and Mental Capacity Work. It is essential that you have a thorough understanding of any relevant legislation, regulations, standards, guidance and policy and procedures relating to this post. Locality Social Work in the community work with the ethos of empowerment and have an advanced understanding of risk enablement and work hard to help create a supportive environment and a wider understanding of risk which enables people to lead their lives independently or with the least restrictive support. A knowledge of Asset based Social Work is essential.
The Advanced Practitioners provides professional social work support to the team and offers guidance and expertise around areas of safeguarding, risk enablement and supports with all aspects of continuous professional development within the team. The post holder will deputise for the Team Manager to assist with day-to-day management of the team, whilst carrying a complex caseload and provide first line management support to the staff team which includes Social Workers and Service Co-ordinators. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a track record of supporting continuous improvement in a busy Community Team. You will need to demonstrate a good understanding of what good practise looks like combined with your knowledge and first-hand experience as a practitioner.
You will have significant post qualification experience including a professional Social Work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, CSS, Social Worker degree or equivalent). You must be registered as a Social Worker with the HCPC, with substantial post qualifying professional training and development. Management experience would be beneficial.
