Post Ref: CC257 We are seeking a Prevent Co-ordinator to work within the Councils Neighbourhoods and Cohesion Team. The team builds resilience and community capacity working with local people in neighbourhoods; we lead work on Hate Crime and Inter Faith activity; lead the Councils equality activity and support work on cohesion and building good relations and deliver work on Asylum and migration. Within this context we deliver Prevent with our partners.
Prevent is part of 'Contest', the Governments Counter Terrorism Strategy. Prevent aims to stop people from becoming terrorists or being drawn into terrorism. Prevent includes dealing with extremism where extremist and terrorist groups share common views; and where people who are extremists are being drawn towards terrorism-related activity.
Calderdale Council is seeking an exceptional candidate for this high-profile role. You will be responsible for the coordination, delivery and communications of all aspects of Calderdale's 'Prevent' work.
We are looking for an organised and confident person who has the skills and ability to coordinate activities and oversee casework to prevent extremist activity occurring in Calderdale. The post holder will work with communities and partners to support those at risk of being drawn into extremism as well as manage a range of community and schools based projects to build resilience.

Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
You must have demonstrable experience of working in a Community Safety, Cohesion, Safeguarding role or similar field, and experience in: working with diverse community based groups and individuals, managing programmes of work with an outcome focus, managing confidential information, preparing funding applications and monitoring reports, experience of negotiation, influencing and partnership working at a high level. The post holder will also manage the Community Engagement Officer and the Prevent Education Officer.
You may be required to travel for business purposes and you must be prepared to undergo enhanced security checks.
The post holder will provide leadership and expertise to drive the delivery of the Prevent strategy and the delivery of the action plan in Calderdale, working with partners at a local, regional and national level, including the Office of Security and Counter Terrorism (OSCT).
