We are currently recruiting: Three Team Managers (Prevention and Early Help. All Age Disability (fixed term) Community.
In Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council, we like to do things differently. We are distinctive, diverse, kind, and inclusive. If working ‘at place’ with a strong sense of community appeals to you, then you should give this opportunity some serious consideration for your next career move.
As a team manager with us you will have overall responsibility for the day to day running of the service. Together with general line management duties, you will be required to ensure that our practice is of a highest standard and always works towards the aspirations of the people we are here to serve. You will be responsible for ensuring safe systems and processes are always adhered too.
We are continuously working hard to improve our services and the way we work together with our partners for the people that reach out to us. Currently, our front-line teams are embarking upon an innovative service redesign, with community led approaches to practice and co-production at the heart of all we do. The team manager position will be pivotal to ‘making this happen’ in terms of operational implementation.
There is no denying, there is a lot of work to do and it’s not for the faint hearted, but if you’re the type of leader who likes to get stuck in and embrace the opportunity to make quality improvements in service delivery then we would love to hear from you.
What we are looking for:
Values Driven – The people who reach out to us tell us they want to live THEIR best life; to be happy and in control, to be well connected in their community and to be as independent as they possibly can be. They want our practice to always be proportionate and do no harm. Our directorate’s vision, aims and objectives are therefore aligned to this. It is therefore essential the team managers values mirror our own and thus be able to influence excellent social care practice in line with what people want from us.
We’re looking for managers who will embed and maintain a culture where practitioners always put people first, where people’s voices are heard and are listened too, and that they are treated with the dignity and the respect they deserve. There will be times when people are not recognised as experts in their own lives and part of your role will be to challenge the circumstances and environments that marginalise, exclude, or oppress both on an internal and external basis.
Collective Leadership Skills – We’re welcoming applications from individuals who have a demonstrable ability to actively engage teams to promote innovation in service design. We are looking for talented leaders who have a unique ability to create the conditions to ensure that full participation at team level occurs with reference to setting team direction, involvement in decision making, developing team processes, agreeing priorities, and embedding a collective responsibility to overall team performance. To excel in this role, you will need to be able to listen to the ideas of others and be able to explore and build upon their ideas for action. The team manager is required to craft an environment that ensures everyone succeeds and progresses according to their own goals and aspirations.
Collaborative – The ability to work collaboratively across our system is essential for this role. We need team managers who can lead beyond their own hierarchy and authority to influence and co-create a new and better reality for those who require our support. An aptitude to see the whole system, listen and mutually respect the perspectives of others and be able to turn problems in to opportunities to solve is crucial. Our team managers are required to work together on cross-team problems and implement plans for high quality across all service areas to ensure overall success of the Adult Services and Wellbeing Directorate.
Why join us:
Service Development – If you have been waiting to get your teeth stuck into some major transformational work and show off your talents with regards leading teams to do something new and different then this opportunity is not to be missed. In our service you will be given the freedom to try new and different things if it makes life better, both for the people we are here for and our teams. You will have the benefit of our highly experienced and stable leadership team to back you up as well as wider networks who will do nothing but encourage and support you to succeed.
Opportunities for Personal/Career Development – As a team manager this may be career progression for you, however the onward possibilities are endless. As an organisation we will support you with monthly supervision as well as quarterly ‘shared conversations’, to focus in on your performance, your progress, your development goals, and your future career aspirations. We also offer several training opportunities and trainee ‘on the job’ nationally recognised apprenticeships such as the ILM Level 5 Management and the Level 7 Senior Management Programme. Opportunities to attend at National Conferences around current and future thinking within Adult Social Care and share the learning is encouraged.
